The Hurt Building

The building, completed in 1913, was a landmark development in its time and continues to be a historically significant and renowned building in this market.  At the time of its completion, it was the 17th largest office building in the world and was designed under the direction of famed architect Joel Hurt, for whom it is named.  The building is designed in a V-shape with a rotunda situated at the apex of the building, which serves as the main entrance to the building.  The building underwent a renovation in 1924 and again in 1985.

The 18-story Class B+ office building is located in the central business district of downtown Atlanta and contains approximately 436,340 rentable square feet.  The Property is conveniently located to the government district, to Georgia State University, and to destination attractions such as the World of Coca Cola.  It is also easily accessible by Interstates 85, 75, and 20 and by public rail (MARTA).  The parking garage is 7 stories of covered parking with approximately 625 parking spaces.

Exterior: The building was constructed using steel frame with reinforced concrete. The distinctive exterior is finished in marble and glazed brick piers with ornamental terra cotta spandrels terminating in a heavy decorative cornice.

Lobby: The main lobby entrance is through the domed Rotunda, which sits at the apex of the building. At the top of the dome is a chandelier and a ceiling decorated with sunbursts and panels of gold leaf and conventional rosettes. A marble staircase leads to the second floor.

Amenities: The City Grill restaurant, the Ferris Art Gallery, City News newsstand/ convenience shop, and a Post Office substation.
